Job Description and Duties

We are seeking a dynamic, articulate and experienced claims professional to fill a unique position as a Senior Claims Liaison. The role of the Claims Liaison will allow you to leverage your knowledge of claims adjusting and your strong communication skills in a customer-facing role. The Claims Liaison is focused primarily on working cross functionally with key stakeholders, both internal (Claims, Marketing, Underwriting, Safety and Health) and external (Brokers and Policyholders) to deliver outstanding customer service.

In this role, you will engage and develop relationships with brokers and policyholders by conducting claims review meetings where you will present case plans and collaborate with Claims Adjusters. You will provide training and be a claims subject matter expert for Brokers and Policyholders.

  • Providing claims information to Brokers and Policyholders and coordinating and conducting meetings, as required
  • Promoting the use of State Fund Online and our Claims Portal as the main source of claims information for internal and external customers
  • Recommending appropriate action to Claims personnel for issue resolution and improved service
  • Serving as a technical/training resource to Claims and Policy Operations personnel
  • Supporting State Fund’s efforts in achieving Corporate premium and customer service goals
  • Must be able to work independently without much supervision in handling a high volume of requests for claims information

  • Basic understanding of various claims functions as they impact Claims Operations

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team and independently to accomplish assigned objectives
  • Ability to analyze issues, interpret data correctly, and apply laws/regulations and guidelines to explain and defend actions taken by Claims Operations staff and attorneys
  • Ability to apply a proactive approach to foster positive relations when explaining and defending actions taken by Claims Operations staff and attorneys
  • Ability to effectively work with and relate with other people (interpersonal skills)
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing (including the ability to be persuasive and credible)
  • Maintains predictable and regular attendance

The successful candidate should possess the following skills & abilities:

  • 2 years of claims adjusting experience
  • Working knowledge of standard software applications, especially in the area of CARE and SFO
  • Discretion in working with and relating with other people to achieve judicious conflict resolution for a variety of sensitive issues and complex problems under challenging circumstances
  • Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully and is consistently a top performer

Work Environment and Hours

  • Frequent and regular travel will be required, including but not be limited to, plane, bus, van, taxi, or car
  • Travel may vary from overnight to five days in duration
  • Will occasionally involve work in the evenings
